There are many ways to get involved in the work of the collaborative.

Send Us a Tip

If you’ve got a story about or that affects essential workers that you want to get to a reporter, let us know.

We work with 20 newsrooms that report on every neighborhood in Chicago and whose coverage area extends into the suburbs in all five collar counties surrounding Cook County.

Contact Solving for Chicago to be connected to the appropriate newsroom or reach out to our members directly.

Join the Collaborative

If you work in a newsroom or work supporting a news organization and want to contribute to our coverage, reach out to us about joining the collaborative.

There is no fee for membership and new members are accepted on a rolling basis. We look for newsrooms that are dedicated to strong local coverage that engages with the news needs of their communities. Newsrooms agree to share stories on the chosen topic of the collaborative with all other members.

Member newsrooms have access to shared stories on the chosen topic; member-only business and editorial events, trainings and workshops; and joint initiatives supporting the financial sustainability of the members.

We are open to working with non-news organizations as well, such as libraries, colleges and universities and other non-profits. We’d love to talk about how we can work together. Please, reach out to Project Director Sam Cholke.

Support Our Work

There are many ways to support the work of the collaborative, including making a donation. Financial support from those who care about journalism is critical to sustaining robust local coverage in Chicago on the most complex and urgent issues. If you can contribute to this work, please let us know.
